TTS Awarded Contract to Provide Central Remote Monitoring of Iraq Gas Turbine Power Grid

May 1, 2007

TTS, in association with the Wintara-Salihi Group Inc (WSGI), has been awarded a contract by the Corps of Engineers to provide the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity with central monitoring of 52 gas turbine-generator sets located throughout the country.

The intent of the project is to gather operational information from all of the remote combustion turbine control systems and transmit the data, via satellite, to the central monitoring facility in Iraq. The information will be continuously monitored at the center to provide diagnosis, alarm management, data storage, etc., all with the intent of providing real-time information and decision-making tools to improve power plant availability throughout the Iraqi power grid.

The center, which will monitor a variety of different gas turbines and control systems, was initially staged at a TTS facility in Orlando where it was fully configured and tested. In-depth training was provided to customer personnel by TTS engineers.

According to TTS VP Technology, George Gramatikas, “We met the challenge to unify diverse turbine controls from OEMs like GE and Siemens, and we engineered and built it in a four month window”
